Let’s Turn Lemons into Frozen Lemonade!

Growing up in Miami, one of the best things to do in the heart of the summer was stop by the famous A.C.’s Icees truck in Kennedy Park, located in the heart of historic Coconut Grove (Instagram account: @acsicees). There you could find the most delicious, thirst-quenching frozen lemonades from one of the nicest guys around. Even though a lot has changed since A.C. started serving up his icees in 1978, he’s still there consistently serving up refreshing goodness one cup at a time. Not everyone is lucky enough to live within driving distance of Coconut Grove, but we thought we’d bring the frozen lemonade to you, courtesy of food.com. Now you can make your own version of an especially satisfying summer treat with a flick of the blender switch. Let the summer vibes continue!

Frozen Lemonade (makes 1 quart, ready in 10 minutes)

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup water
  • 4 cups ice cubes
  • ½ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ cup sugar

 Directions:

  1. In blender, combine lemon juice with water and sugar.
  2. Gradually add the 4 cups of ice cubes, blending until smooth.
  3. Serve immediately

If you’re not in charge of small children or operating heavy machinery, you can make this an adult beverage by adding vodka or your alcohol of choice. And speaking of modifications, why not add in raspberries, strawberries or mint to give an extra tropical kick to your slushie? We hope you enjoy a taste of Miami goodness before the fall winds rush in.
