Looking for a great way to stay up for the 4th of July fireworks? Meet the newest trend in cocktails: The Espresso Martini. It’s the ultimate fusion of an energy boost with a cooler than cool vibe. As legend has it, a top model walked into a London bar in 1983 and essentially requested – in not quite those words – exactly that type of drink. Bartender Dick Bradsell was quick to whip up the “Espressotini,” and history was made.
Be sure to make your espresso ahead of time so it can chill before mixing. Pro tip: if you don’t have access to a genuine espresso machine that will make espresso with a nice crema on top, whip up ½ of an egg white and add it to the drink. It won’t affect taste but it will allow you to rest the coffee beans on the surface. Prepare for your guests to be impressed. Wishing you a happy 4th of July!
